Part of the enabling works for the Cross Rail Link requires alternative platfrom access for the Underground /overground rail services. This required:

    • demolition of 2 No 3 storey buildings that abut the main station wall (6.5m high listed masonry wall)
    • Support to the wall to be coordinated with LUL access requirements and constraints for the new build structure.
    • The existing foot bridge and stairs also require removal during a combined 54 hour track closure.
    • The new build consists of a bored piled foundation, suspended insitu slab and new steel frame structure.
  • The only access for construction activities is via the adjacent thigh way some 5m above the existing slab level.

Logistically careful planning and construction methods are required due to the narrow site foot print and programme requirements that are governed by LUL and Rail Track confines.
